OUR STORY
Officially founded in 2020, Akaya Food and Spices is a family-owned business inspired by a long Caribbean culinary tradition, generational recipes carried forward in my family, and my unmeasured passion for healthy cooking.
Hailing from the Caribbean, we missed the mouth-watering flavors that we were used to - tangy, spicey, and supremely delicious.
With a background in healthcare and a passion for cooking, the limited choices, and options in the Caribbean aisle of our grocery stores always stunned me; especially knowing the variety and abundance of flavours, spices, and recipes the Antilles’ cuisines have to offer.
We knew we had to offer something new; an inspiration to food lovers. Thus, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, we researched, planned, tried, failed, persevered, and then ultimately, we’ve created our own in-house collections of these well-balanced flavour-bursting blends.
